RAER Single Malt: The story behind our Inaugural Release
Our first Single Malt Scotch Whisky is now available to pre-buy, and for everyone at Jackton Distillery, this is a moment we’ve been waiting a long time to share.
Distilled, matured and bottled at Jackton in the Scottish Lowlands, RAER Single Malt Scotch Whisky, The Inaugural Release, marks the beginning of our Single Malt story.
The Inaugural Release is limited to 6,000 individually hand-numbered bottles, bottled at 48.7% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered. Matured across Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Oloroso casks, it brings together richness, warmth, depth and balance in a way that feels true to Jackton and true to RAER.
It is priced at £68, with bottles shipping from 4 September 2026.
A first release from Jackton Distillery
There are moments in a distillery’s life that carry more weight than others.
For us, this is one of them.
RAER has always been built around connection. The toast that lands just right and the dram that changes someone’s mind. A bottle opened with friends and a moment worth remembering.
But a first Single Malt is different. Because it’s a statement of patience, belief and intent. It says the spirit has been laid down, watched, tasted, given time, and finally judged ready to carry the distillery’s name into a new chapter.
For our family-run, independent Lowland distillery, The Inaugural Release is exactly that. It’s the first RAER Single Malt, and the first proper step into a part of the whisky world we’ve been working towards since the earliest days at Jackton.
This is not just another release. It’s the bottle that begins the story.
From February 2020 to The Inaugural Release
The first cask was laid down at Jackton in February 2020.
A month later, the world changed.
Like so many businesses, families and communities, we had to keep going through a period no one could have planned for. But whisky asks for patience anyway. It asks you to keep showing up, keep checking, keep waiting, and trust that time is doing its work.
Since that first cask, we’ve watched, tasted, learned and waited for the moment when our first Single Malt would feel ready to share.
That moment is now.
Batch No.1 is the result of years of quiet work, careful cask selection and a determination to create a first release with real flavour, warmth and character.
The liquid: four cask styles, one first release
Our inaugural Single Malt draws its character from four carefully chosen cask styles:
Bourbon
Bringing structure, sweetness, soft oak and balance.
Pedro Ximénez
Adding dark fruit richness, depth and a gentle sweetness.
Amontillado
Contributing nuttiness, warmth and layered complexity.
Oloroso
Rounding the whisky with sherried character, richness and balance.
Together, these casks build a full-flavoured Single Malt without overpowering the spirit itself.

- On the nose, look for fruitcake, fig and sultana.
- On the palate, expect dark fruits, treacle and roasted nuts.
- The finish is long and mellow, with toffee, sweet spice and soft oak.
This is not a light, shy dram. It is rich, generous and full of character, bottled at 48.7% ABV to let the flavour carry properly.
It’s also natural colour and non-chill filtered, because we wanted Batch No.1 to arrive with honesty, texture and as much of its natural character intact as possible.
A whisky shaped by openness
RAER has never been about keeping people at a distance.
From the beginning, we’ve wanted Jackton to feel open, human and welcoming. A place where whisky can be taken seriously without becoming closed off. Where people can ask questions, taste, learn and be part of the story, whether they’re lifelong whisky fans or finding their way into the category for the first time.
That spirit has been part of the Single Malt journey too.
Along the way, we welcomed people into the journey. Some tasted early samples, some shared thoughts, and many simply kept asking when the first bottle would arrive.
That mattered to us. It didn’t make the whisky any less serious – it just made the journey more honest. A first release should still carry the craft, patience and judgement of the distillery, but it should also feel connected to the people who have been watching, visiting and willing it on.
The first batch belongs to Jackton’s story, but it also belongs to everyone who has followed that story with us.
Limited to 6,000 individually hand-numbered bottles
Batch No.1 is limited to 6,000 individually hand-numbered bottles. Each bottle number will be recorded as part of the Ledger of RAER, giving every bottle its own place in Jackton’s Single Malt history.
That matters because this release will not be repeated. There will be future RAER Single Malt releases and future batches. There will also be new stories to tell. But there will only ever be one Batch No.1.
This is the first release, first chapter and the first bottle in the Single Malt journey from Jackton Distillery.
For collectors, that makes it meaningful. And for whisky fans, it makes it a moment. Batch No.1 is collectable, but above all, it’s whisky made to be opened, shared and remembered.
Made at Jackton, rooted in the Lowlands
Jackton Distillery sits among rolling fields in the Scottish Lowlands, just outside Glasgow. It’s our home, our workplace and the heart of the RAER story.
This first Single Malt has been distilled, matured and bottled at Jackton Distillery, carrying the character of a family-run distillery that is still young, still growing and still very hands-on.
We’re building towards a more complete grain-to-glass future. That journey is in motion, and Batch No.1 is part of that honest progression.
It’s not about pretending everything has been perfected overnight. It’s about showing the work, respecting the process and building something with patience. That’s what this bottle represents.
